The Gorilla Tracking Adventure in the Misty Forest of Bwindi

Mountain Gorilla Tracking ranks as one of the world's premier wildlife encounters. Meeting these majestic Apes on one of your African safari and staring at a group of these Gorillas is an emotional and humbling experience, tears will shortly roll down your cheeks as you watch these once human prey being now one of the most sought after wildlife creatures, Thanks! to the great work of conservation championed by Dian Fossey.

Tracking the Gorillas is a grand, remarkable and memorable African adventure as one treks through the misty mountain forests characterized by tangled vegetation, steep slippery slopes and chilly weather all the way atop the ranges where the Gorillas dwell. The forest offers unmatched ambiance as you marvel at the wonders of nature. The scents, sights and sounds, trails past the stunning waterways, flora and the whole scenery in the Gorilla habitat make the tracking experience a moment of greatness and a story worth to tell, back after your safari.

Mountain Gorillas are some of the world's endangered species, with their population estimate now hitting the 1000 mark  (which indicates positive conservation efforts, great isn't it?) . They are members of the world's Great Apes, with the others being the Orangutans and the Chimpanzees. They are a subspecies of the Eastern Gorillas.
They (mountain Gorillas) are found in two groups, one in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park situated in the Southwestern part of Uganda, and the Second group found in Virunga Volcanoes, a physical land-form spreading across three countries i.e. Rwanda, D.R of Congo and Uganda with the subsequent areas protected as national parks in the countries they are found.

The Gorillas live in structured groups called families with each family having about 5 or 8 to 30 individuals, led by a dominant Silverback. These groups are habituated to ensure these primates are used to human presence and that visitors are able to see them.

If you want to see the Gorillas, there are two forms/ types of safaris to encounter them; you can either decide to go on a normal Gorilla Tracking program which can last just a few hours and once you meet the Gorillas in the forest, you are allowed 1 hour in their presence. Similarly, one can opt for an adventurous Gorilla Habituation Experience where you follow researchers on a full-day activity of habituating and monitoring the Gorillas and once you meet them unlike on a normal tracking safari, here you are allowed 4 hours with/ in the presence of the Gorillas.

Whoever encounters the Gorillas never remains the same, it's epic!, it's stunning, journey with us through the African wilderness, trek through the jungles of Bwindi and Volcanoes National Parks, to watch the Gorillas in the Mist.
